Privacy Policy

Last updated: October 17, 2026 (draft)

Permly ("we", "us") builds software for Maryland driving schools. This policy explains what personal information we collect, how we use it, and the choices you have. Questions: hello@getpermly.com.

Who this covers

  • Visitors and waitlist sign-ups (driving school owners and staff who use this website).
  • Students and parents or guardians, whose information a driving school enters into Permly or provides through Permly.

What we collect

From this website. If you join the waitlist: your name, school name, email address, phone number, and the approximate number of students your school teaches per year. Our host may also collect basic technical data, such as IP address and browser type, for security and to keep the site running.

For schools using Permly. Student and parent or guardian contact details, permit and enrollment information, class attendance and scores, driving lesson records, signed forms, and a log of the messages sent to students. We do not collect Social Security numbers.

How we use it

  • To contact waitlist sign-ups about Permly.
  • To provide the service to a driving school: keeping student records, tracking deadlines, and logging follow-up.
  • To keep the service secure, fix problems, and meet legal obligations.

We never sell personal data

We do not sell personal data, and we do not share it for advertising. Mobile phone numbers and text-message opt-in information are never shared with third parties for their marketing or promotional purposes.

Who we share it with

Only service providers that help us run Permly (for example, hosting, database, and messaging providers), and only for that purpose. We may also disclose information if the law requires it. A driving school can see the records it created for its own students.

Students under 18

Many driving school students are minors. We handle information about students under 18 only to keep the school's records for that student and to carry out the school's instructions. We do not use it for advertising, we do not sell it, and we do not build profiles of minors for any other purpose. Text messages to a student under 18 are sent only with consent from a parent or guardian. A parent or guardian can contact the driving school, or us, to ask about or delete their child's information.

Maryland Online Data Privacy Act

If the Maryland Online Data Privacy Act applies to you, you may have the right to confirm whether we process your personal data, to access it, correct it, delete it, get a copy of it, and to opt out of targeted advertising, sale, and certain profiling. We do not engage in those activities. For records a driving school holds about its students, we act on the school's behalf, so we may direct your request to the school. To make a request, email hello@getpermly.com. If we decline, you can appeal by replying to our response, and you may contact the Maryland Attorney General.

How long we keep it

Waitlist information is kept until you ask us to remove it or we no longer need it. School records are kept for as long as the school uses Permly, or as the school instructs, subject to record-keeping rules that apply to driving schools.

Security

We use access controls and encryption in transit to protect information. No system is perfectly secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

Changes

If we change this policy we will update the date above.
